Job summary

Terry Parris Associates in Newhaven, East Sussex, is seeking a Sheet Metal Worker to join a busy engineering environment and a skilled metal fabrication team.

You will work primarily with stainless steel, performing precision sheet metal fabrication, TIG welding, finishing and high-grade polishing, using drawings for guidance. The role offers a stable, hands-on setting with opportunities to develop skills across the operation.

Qualifications

• Two-year apprenticeship in Metal Fabrication or equivalent experience.
• Experience in sheet metal work, fabrication and welding.
• Experience with TIG welding, stainless steel fabrication or polishing is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Perform precision sheet metal work to tight tolerances.
• Fabricate sheet, plate and sections as required.
• Carry out TIG welding and finishing work on stainless steel.
• Polish to high-grade finish where required.
• Operate machinery such as guillotines, press brakes, plasma cutters, saws, rollers and grinders.
• Use Vernier calipers, micrometers and tapes to measure accurately.
• Work from engineering drawings, sketches, and verbal instructions.
• Produce both individual components and assemblies, either independently or with teammates.
• Maintain high standards of quality, safety and workmanship.
