Job summary

The Recruitment Group is assisting Gill Cooke Personnel Ltd in finding a hands-on Metrology Technician for a fixed-term contract. You will provide technical support across inspection, dimensional verification and OGP programming within a precision engineering environment.

You will carry out dimensional inspection with OGP and manual tools, create and edit measurement programs, and verify components against drawings and tolerances. Start date is at short notice.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in metrology, inspection, quality or precision engineering.
• Strong hands‑on experience with OGP measurement systems.
• Confident using micrometers, calipers, height gauges, bore gauges and other dimensional inspection equipment.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and understand tolerances/GD&T.
• Detail‑focused, reliable and comfortable working independently.
• Available to start at short notice.

Responsibilities

• Carry out dimensional inspection using OGP systems and manual measurement equipment.
• Create, amend and step-edit OGP measurement programs.
• Inspect components against engineering drawings, specifications and tolerances.
• Interpret GD&T requirements where applicable.
• Record and communicate inspection results, escalating non-conformances when required.
• Support Production, Quality and Engineering teams with measurement and inspection queries.
• Maintain consistent, accurate and repeatable inspection methods.
