Job summary

Contek Recruitment Solutions Ltd is representing a well-established engineering and manufacturing business in Watford seeking a Finishing Technician / Metal Polisher. The role focuses on transforming machined components through polishing, finishing and preparation, achieving bright mirror finishes with precision.

The ideal candidate will have 2+ years in metal polishing or finishing, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and within a skilled team.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in metal polishing or finishing environments.
• Ideally a minimum of 2 years in a metal polishing/finishing role.
• Good practical skills and a hands-on approach.
• Excellent attention to detail and pride in workmanship.
• Patient and persistent; understands quality finishing takes time and care.
• Able to work under pressure in busy production settings.

Responsibilities

• Carry out metal polishing and finishing to a high standard.
• Produce bright and mirror finishes on various metal components.
• Use polishing motors, mops, compounds and finishing equipment.
• Operate orbital sanders and diamond cutters as needed.
• Grind, fettling and linish components to specification.
• Prepare components for subsequent finishing and plating steps.
• Follow instructions to achieve required finishes and inspect own work for quality.
• Work independently and as part of an experienced team.
• Maintain a clean, safe and organized workspace.
• Adhere to Health & Safety procedures and safe systems of work.
• Meet production deadlines while upholding workmanship quality.
• Be willing to learn new specialist finishing processes.
