Job summary

Meridian Business Support Ltd is recruiting for a Manual Machinist / Toolmaker in Taunton. The role offers a permanent part-time position, with a 2pm Friday finish, and an hourly rate up to £16.50 depending on experience.

You’ll work in a skilled toolroom, producing high‑quality tooling and components and supporting CNC colleagues. Key tasks include operating manual mills and lathes, reading drawings, and using precision inspection tools to ensure tight tolerances.

Qualifications

• Experience in manual machining or toolmaking in a precision engineering environment.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and work to close tolerances.
• Experience with precision measuring equipment and inspection practices.

Responsibilities

• Operate manual milling machines and lathes to produce tooling and components.
• Read and interpret drawings, dimensions and tolerances accurately.
• Carry out fitting, assembly, finishing and modification work on tooling.
• Use micrometers, verniers and height gauges to maintain quality.
• Collaborate with CNC machinists to deliver projects efficiently.
