Job summary

Hydrasun in Glasgow is seeking an experienced Machinist to join a skilled manufacturing team. You will operate Colchester Student and Triumph 2500 centre lathes, and a Giewont milling machine, producing precision components to tight tolerances.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Machine Lathe Operator/Setter.
• Strong understanding of machining principles and engineering drawings.
• Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.

Responsibilities

• Operate and set machines in accordance with production schedules and instructions.
• Set up and machine components using Colchester Student and Triumph 2500 lathes and a Giewont milling machine.
• Interpret engineering drawings, route cards and technical documentation.
• Verify materials, tooling and program requirements prior to manufacture.
• Conduct machine setup activities and support first-off inspection requirements.
• Monitor machining operations to ensure product quality and dimensional accuracy.
• Perform gauging, deburring and finishing activities in accordance with specifications.
• Identify, segregate and report non-conforming products in line with quality procedures.
• Complete production and manufacturing documentation accurately.
• Maintain tools, equipment and work areas to high housekeeping and safety standards.
• Handle materials and components safely to prevent damage.
• Support wider manufacturing activities and continuous improvement initiatives where required.
