Job summary

First Base is seeking an Operations Engineer - Machining and Maintenance in Stonehouse, Gloucestershire. The role focuses on precision engineering, machining and sustaining production equipment, jigs and tooling to ensure reliable, efficient manufacturing.

You will join a close-knit team, carrying out preventative maintenance and supporting daily targets while adhering to quality documentation and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience in a manufacturing/engineering workshop.
• Experience with low-volume prototype or R&D projects.
• Machining experience with tight tolerances.
• Maintenance experience on production equipment.
• Experience manufacturing, repairing and maintaining jigs/fixtures/tooling.
• Awareness of quality standards (ISO 9001/13485) and Good Documentation Practices.
• Strong communication and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Support daily production through precision engineering, machining and maintenance.
• Design and manufacture components for jigs, fixtures, tooling and equipment.
• Carry out precision machining to meet quality requirements.
• Perform preventative and responsive maintenance on production equipment.
• Develop and maintain preventive maintenance schedules per ISO standards.
• Diagnose faults and repair equipment to minimise downtime.
• Ensure quality, safety and clean working environment.
• Collaborate with teams to resolve technical issues.
• Identify opportunities to improve reliability and efficiency.
