Job summary

Sulzer is seeking a Grinding Operator at our York facility. The role involves operating grinding machines to shape, finish and polish metal parts to precise standards while maintaining safety and quality.

You will measure parts, set up equipment, select tools and document production data in a busy fabrication environment. Candidates should have engineering background, strong attention to detail and the ability to work in a manufacturing setting with exposure to noise and dust.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of grinding techniques and precision measurement tools.
• Ability to set up, adjust and control grinding machines to meet specifications.
• Attention to detail to detect defects and ensure parts meet exact tolerances.

Responsibilities

• Operate Grinding Machines: set up, adjust and control grinding machines to grind, polish or finish parts.
• Inspect Workpieces using micrometers, calipers, gauges and templates to ensure dimensional accuracy.
• Machine Maintenance: clean, lubricate and perform basic maintenance on machines.
• Select and Mount Tools: choose grinding wheels and attach them to machines, adjust speed and feed.
• Quality Control: monitor operations and segregate defective parts.
• Record Keeping: maintain production records and report issues.
• Safety Compliance: follow safety protocols and keep work area clean.
