Job summary

Johnstons of Elgin in Hawick is seeking a Cutting Operative to join our team and cut, mark and prepare a wide variety of garments and accessories.

You will work on a 38-hour week, dayshift, with training provided. Prior experience in cutting or related garment roles is valued, and attention to detail is essential to ensure precise templates and measurements are followed. This role is based at our Hawick facility, supporting our luxury fabric production.

Qualifications

• Excellent colour vision.
• High levels of attention to detail.
• Good concentration to stay focused for long periods.

Responsibilities

• Select bundles of work and check the contents.
• Refer to precise cutting specifications and templates.
• Lay out the item and mark cut areas as specified.
• Cut shapes and ensure centering.
• Where required, cut trimmings (e.g. pockets, straps).
• Fold garments with trimmings and set aside.
• Mark details on worksheet and attach self-stick label to progress sheet.
