Job summary

CVI Infrared Optics is seeking an experienced CNC Polishing Technician to join our Fabrication Team in the UK. You will set up, operate and monitor CNC polishing equipment to achieve demanding optical surface specifications and dimensional accuracy for high-value components.

You’ll work with delicate infrared and visible materials, reading drawings, selecting tools and maintaining strict quality and process documentation. A strong eye for detail and TPM awareness are essential.

Qualifications

• Proven experience operating CNC polishing equipment.
• Experience manufacturing precision components to tight tolerances.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Experience using precision measurement and inspection equipment.
• Strong attention to detail and quality standards.
• Understanding TPM principles and SOPs in manufacturing.
• Capable of working both independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC polishing machines to manufacture precision optical components.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, process documentation and instructions.
• Polish components to specified dimensional, form and surface finish requirements.
• Prepare tools, fixtures, consumables and polishing compounds.
• Adjust machine parameters to achieve target surface quality.
• Conduct first-off inspections and in-process quality checks.
• Maintain cleanliness and traceability throughout manufacture.
• Report non-conformances and document inspection results.
• Support TPM activities and equipment maintenance as needed.
