Job summary

CVI Infrared Optics, part of IDEX MSS, seeks an experienced CNC Polishing Technician to manufacture high-precision infrared and visible optical components to strict customer specifications. You will set up, operate and monitor CNC polishing equipment, read drawings, select tools, and ensure surface quality with meticulous attention to detail.

Qualifications

• Proven experience operating CNC polishing equipment or precision polishing machinery.
• Experience manufacturing precision components to tight dimensional tolerances.
• Ability to read and accurately interpret engineering drawings and technical specs.
• Experience using precision measurement and inspection equipment.
• Strong attention to detail and quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC polishing machines to manufacture precision optical components.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, process docs and instructions.
• Polish components to specified dimensional, form and surface finish requirements.
• Select and prepare polishing tools, fixtures and compounds.
• Adjust machine parameters for surface quality and consistency.
• Monitor operations and perform process adjustments as needed.
• Perform first-off inspections and in-process quality checks.
• Inspect for scratches, digs, defects and contamination.
• Assist with metrology and inspection using approved equipment.
• Maintain cleanliness and traceability throughout production.
• Report non-conformances and deviations promptly.
• Follow SOPs and approved manufacturing processes.
• Support TPM and equipment reliability activities.
