A leading engineering firm in the United Kingdom is seeking an experienced Managing Director to oversee precision manufacturing operations. This hands-on role focuses on low-volume, high-precision components, requiring strong skills in CNC programming and machining. The ideal candidate will have a background as an apprentice-trained machinist with experience in engineering environments, supporting new part development and ensuring quality standards. This position involves working closely with design and engineering teams to drive continuous improvement in the manufacturing lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Apprentice-trained machinist or equivalent experience in a precision engineering environment.
• Strong CNC programming, setting and operating capability.
• Confident reading engineering drawings and tolerances.

Responsibilities

• Manufacture prototype and small-batch components using modern CNC milling and turning equipment.
• Program, set and operate CNC machine tools, including multi-axis machining.
• Inspect components to ensure conformance with drawings and specifications.
