Job Description

Due to the secure nature of the work, candidates must hold or be eligible for UK Security Clearance. The role is based on-site near Reading or Chippenham, working five days a week.

Your future duties and responsibilities

Join CGI's Secure Business Services to build a new cloud-focused capability supporting high-profile bids and delivery projects in Defence. As a Senior Cloud Architect, you will shape cloud transformation and high-security services.

What You'll Do

1. Architect & Design: Develop secure, scalable, and resilient private cloud solutions for bids and delivery.
2. Bid Development: Collaborate with sales and proposal teams to craft winning cloud strategies, develop responses, estimate costs, and present proposals.
3. Technical Leadership: Provide governance and quality assurance during implementation, guiding teams through migration of legacy systems.
4. Client Collaboration: Work with MOD stakeholders to understand requirements and ensure solutions align with their cloud roadmap.
5. Security & Compliance: Incorporate NCSC principles, government standards, and regulations into designs and transition plans.

Required qualifications

• Deep knowledge of private and public cloud platforms (Azure, AWS), IaC tools like Terraform, and secure system architecture.
• Excellent communication skills to engage stakeholders and articulate solutions.
• Experience assessing legacy systems, defining cloud strategies, and managing cloud migration projects.
• Experience delivering cloud solutions in Defence contexts.
• Eligibility for UK HLC security clearance.

Desired Competencies

• Experience contributing to competitive bids and designing solutions under tight deadlines.
• Over 3 years as a lead architect for cloud migrations in Defence.
• Cloud Architect Expert certification in at least one major platform.
• Familiarity with NCSC Cloud Security Principles, G Cloud, or similar frameworks.
