Job summary

Great Ormond Street Hospital seeks a Band 3 Healthcare Assistant to support pre-operative assessment and nurse-led sedation services for children and young people. You will work closely with registered nurses, anaesthetists and ODPs in a multidisciplinary environment.

The role combines clinical and administrative duties, with supervision appropriate to training and competence, and adherence to hospital standards. This is a full-time NHS post at a renowned children's hospital.

Qualifications

• GCSE English and Maths (grades 4-9) or equivalent Functional Skills Level 2.
• NVQ Level 2 Health & Social Care or equivalent qualification.
• Care Certificate evidenced; online component and workplace-based assessment required.

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality care to children, young people and families.
• Work effectively as part of the APOA and Sedation Team.
• Support pre-operative assessment and nurse-led sedation services.
• Carry out clinical and non-clinical duties delegated by registered healthcare professionals.
• Work under supervision within your training and competence.
• Follow clinical standards, policies, procedures and protocols.
• Communicate effectively with children, families and multidisciplinary teams.
• Take responsibility for your own work and act on results.
• Work independently within your designated area of responsibility.
• Promote and demonstrate good practice.
• Support and supervise colleagues where required.
