About the role

Become part of the first new nuclear power station to be built in the UK in over 20 years! Join our Balfour Beatty Kilpatrick team as an Pre Construction Engineer - Electrical on the Hinkley Point Project and develop your career with this exciting project.

About Hinkley Point C

The first new nuclear power station in over 20 years in the UK, Hinkley Point C in Somerset, will provide low-carbon electricity for around 6 million homes, create thousands of jobs, and bring lasting economic benefits. It will significantly contribute to the UK's efforts to reduce carbon emissions, offsetting 9 million tonnes of CO2 annually through its two EPR reactors.

What you'll be doing

1. Deliver Discipline Specific Construction Work Packs and record work information in AS9 for installation preparation.
2. Contribute to scheduling works for your discipline, including reviewing resource levels.
3. Define the scope of works boundaries.
4. Liaise with client counterparts as necessary.
5. Ensure documentation complies with latest works information and other MEH documentation; request clarifications or propose changes as needed.
6. Maintain and review documents periodically to ensure they are up-to-date.
7. Support continuous improvement initiatives for processes and procedures.
8. Ensure compliance with nuclear safety and site licence requirements.
9. Analyze, coordinate, and act on works information documentation related to your discipline.
10. Identify work fronts through detailed constructability reviews and installation schedules.
11. Determine key materials needed for installation and request surveys or temporary devices as required.

Who we're looking for

1. Degree qualification or equivalent vocational training in a relevant field.
2. Proven experience in a highly regulated sector, preferably nuclear.
3. Experience working on major construction projects.
4. Experience at Engineer or Senior Engineer level.
5. Ability to achieve Security Clearance (BPSS or higher).
