About the role

Become part of the first new nuclear power station to be built in the UK in over 20 years! Join our Balfour Beatty Kilpatrick team as an Pre Construction Engineer - Electrical on the Hinkley Point Project and develop with this amazing project.

About Hinkley Point C

The first new nuclear power station to be built in the UK in over 20 years; Hinkley Point C in Somerset will provide low-carbon electricity for around 6 million homes, create thousands of jobs, and bring lasting benefits to the UK economy.

Marking a significant milestone in the revitalisation of our nuclear power industry, Hinkley Point C will make a major contribution to the UK’s move to reduce carbon emissions. The electricity generated by its two EPR reactors will offset 9 million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions a year.

What you'll be doing
  1. Deliver Discipline Specific Construction Work Packs and record in AS9 the work information used to prepare installation.
  2. Contribute to the scheduling of the works for the discipline, including review and feedback on the suitability of the level of resource.
  3. Define the boundary of scope of works.
  4. Liaise with necessary client counterparts.
  5. Ensure documents are compliant with latest works information and other MEH documentation. Request clarification or propose changes when required. Prioritize and own documentation to enable construction works as per schedule.
  6. Ensure documents are kept up-to-date and reviewed periodically where required.
  7. Support continuous improvement programs to enhance processes and procedures.
  8. Ensure compliance with all nuclear safety and site license requirements.
  9. Receive, analyze, coordinate, and action works information documentation associated with the specific discipline of work.
  10. Identify the available work front for the discipline through detailed constructability reviews and the associated installation schedule.
  11. Identify key materials needed to unlock additional installation; request surveys and temporary devices when required.
Who we're looking for
  1. Degree qualification or equivalent vocational training in a relevant field.
  2. Proven track record of working in a highly regulated sector, preferably in nuclear.
  3. Experience working on major construction projects.
  4. Experience in delivering and operating at Engineer or Senior Engineer level.
  5. Ability to achieve Security Clearance (BPSS or Higher).
