Job summary

Facades Talent Group is recruiting a Preconstruction Director on behalf of a well established specialist facades contractor. The role is senior leadership, owning the preconstruction function end to end, covering estimating, early design input and bid strategy.

You'd carry the annual turnover and margin targets and influence strategy as part of the senior leadership team, with a route to board involvement. Essex or central London offices available.

Qualifications

• Background in facades, cladding, rainscreen, curtain walling, or building envelope.
• Experience as Head of Estimating, Estimating Manager, Preconstruction Manager, or Commercial/Preconstruction Director.
• Track record of pricing and winning facade packages at significant value.
• Ability to lead a team and set process.
• Confident in front of clients at tender stage and represent the business at senior level.

Responsibilities

• Leading and developing the estimating team, including recruitment, mentoring and performance.
• Owning bid/no bid decisions alongside the Directors, applying commercial judgement and risk analysis.
• Setting the commercial position at adjudication and signing off tender submissions.
• Building and leveraging supply chain relationships to secure competitive rates at tender stage.
• Working closely with the in-house design team to shape tenders early and win on value rather than price alone.
• Leading formal handovers into delivery, with assumptions, risks and commercial strategy clearly communicated.
• Contributing to company strategy as part of the senior leadership team, with a route to board involvement.

They deliver new build, reclad and refurbishment projects across education, commercial, leisure, residential and hotels, and they have a strong reputation with tier one main contractors who come back to them repeatedly.

This is a senior leadership appointment. You'd own the preconstruction function end to end, covering estimating, early design input and bid strategy, and you'd carry the annual turnover and margin targets rather than simply running tenders.

What you'd be doing

• Leading and developing the estimating team, including recruitment, mentoring and performance
