Job summary

The Francis Crick Institute is seeking a proactive Pre-award Grants Manager to join the Pre-Award Grants team in London. You will support scientists to identify funding opportunities, develop competitive grant applications, and provide specialist advice on funder requirements throughout the process.

Reporting to the Pre-Award Grants Team Lead, you will coordinate budgets, ensure compliance, and collaborate with Legal and internal teams to move applications toward activation while continuously

Qualifications

• Experience in a grants team with understanding of research funding processes.
• Knowledge of funder regulations and grant administration best practices.
• Strong numerical and analytical skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to communicate complex funding data clearly to diverse audiences.
• Excellent organisational skills with ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
• Collaborative approach working with scientists and operational colleagues at all levels.

Responsibilities

• Identify funding opportunities and develop competitive grant applications.
• Provide specialist advice on funder requirements, budgets, policies and processes.
• Coordinate proposal budgets and approvals using Worktribe.
• Support due diligence checks and grant-related agreements with the Legal team.
• Liaise with funders, collaborators and internal teams to progress applications.
• Help ensure smooth transition from award to activation and improve pre-award processes.
