We are seeking a highly motivated, experienced Registered Nurse to lead our Pre-assessment and Bowel Screening Team in delivering a clinically effective service preparing our patients for their endoscopy procedure. The postholder will predominantly work Monday to Friday but may be required to work in the endoscopy rooms and do on-call duties to meet the needs of the service.
Knowledge of the Endoscopy pathway and experience working in a pre-assessment environment are essential. The Team Leader will work autonomously, supporting the Senior Charge Nurse in managing patients attending for endoscopy, whether elective, emergency, or as part of the Bowel Screening Service.
The Team Leader will provide high-standard, efficient, and individualized patient care by conducting comprehensive medical assessments, physical measurements, and diagnostic tests, managing ongoing medical needs to facilitate the endoscopy.
The role involves assessing, evaluating, and optimizing patients' health preoperatively, liaising, and planning for their endoscopy. An essential aspect is supporting the senior nursing team to develop and expand the role to meet patient and service needs.
Good clinical decision-making skills, the ability to work with minimal supervision, and excellent communication skills are essential. You must demonstrate effective teamwork, interpersonal skills, and a commitment to patient-centered care.
You will support the Senior Charge Nurse in managing the assessment team and supporting services. Development and continuous professional development are integral to this leadership role. You will collaborate across healthcare boundaries, developing, implementing, reviewing, and evaluating evidence-based standards, guidelines, and policies to ensure safe and effective practices while meeting local and national targets. Accurate record-keeping and electronic data management are required.
Excellent communication skills, knowledge of endoscopy, bowel screening, and cancer-related health issues are essential.
You should be competent in evidence-based clinical skills related to pre-assessment, Endoscopy, and Bowel Screening Service. Evidence of ongoing education and a commitment to lifelong learning and professional development for yourself and your team are expected.
You must be flexible in your approach, as working hours will be adjusted to meet service needs.
