Job description

Job Title: Registered Nurse - Pre-assessment and Bowel Screening Team Leader

We are seeking a highly motivated, experienced Registered Nurse to lead our Pre-assessment and Bowel Screening Team in delivering a clinically effective service preparing patients for endoscopy procedures. The role is primarily Monday to Friday, with potential requirements to work in the endoscopy rooms and participate in on-call duties to meet service needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Support the Senior Charge Nurse in managing the assessment team and supporting services.
  2. Provide high-standard, individualized patient care through comprehensive medical assessments, physical measurements, diagnostic tests, and ongoing management of medical needs to facilitate endoscopy procedures.
  3. Assess and evaluate patients preoperatively, liaise with patients and planning for their endoscopy.
  4. Develop and expand the role of the team to meet patient and service needs.
  5. Work autonomously with good clinical decision-making skills and minimal supervision.
  6. Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with patients and team members.
  7. Collaborate across healthcare boundaries, developing, reviewing, and evaluating standards, guidelines, and policies to ensure safe and effective practice.
  8. Maintain accurate records and produce electronic data as evidence of compliance and performance.
  9. Participate in continuous professional development and support lifelong learning for yourself and your team.
  10. Be flexible in working hours to meet service requirements.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of the Endoscopy pathway and experience working in a pre-assessment environment.
  • Effective team working and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent decision-making, communication, and clinical skills related to pre-assessment, endoscopy, and bowel screening.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development and willingness to engage in lifelong learning.
  • Competence in evidence-based clinical skills relevant to the role.
  • Ability to work flexibly according to service needs.
