Job summary

Spire Claremont Hospital in Sheffield is recruiting an experienced Registered Nurse to join the Pre Assessment team on a full-time, permanent basis. The role focuses on comprehensive pre-operative assessments, triage, and ensuring patient suitability for surgery.

You will work with consultants, anaesthetists and the multidisciplinary team to support safe, personalised care, with opportunities to contribute to quality improvement. NMC registration and pre-assessment experience are essential.

Qualifications

• Current NMC registration with no restrictions on practice.
• Previous experience within a Pre-Assessment setting.
• Acute healthcare experience.
• Strong assessment and clinical decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Confidence working independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
• Good IT skills and electronic patient record experience.
• Phlebotomy, venepuncture and ECG competency.
• Pre-Operative Assessment Association qualification or training.

Responsibilities

• Conducting comprehensive pre-operative assessments.
• Triaging and assessing patients to ensure suitability for surgery.
• Identifying and escalating potential clinical concerns.
• Supporting safe, personalised patient care throughout the surgical pathway.
• Providing clear information and reassurance to patients and families.
• Working collaboratively with consultants, anaesthetists and multidisciplinary teams.
• Contributing to quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
