We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Practice Nurse or Registered Nursing Associate to join our established GP practice. Whether you're an experienced Practice Nurse looking for a new challenge or a newly qualified Nursing Associate eager to develop, we welcome your application.

Main duties of the job

At The Market Surgery, we pride ourselves on delivering high-quality, patient-centred care and value nurses' vital roles in our multidisciplinary team. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a collaborative, progressive environment with ongoing development and training opportunities.

About us

The Market Surgery is a busy seven-doctor practice serving over 10,000 patients in and around Aylsham, North Norfolk.

Located in purpose-built premises near Aylsham town centre, we aim to provide friendly, efficient primary care. Our facilities include ground-floor consulting rooms, a dispensary adjacent to reception, and a patient parking area.

We are part of the North and Waveney Integrated Care Service and serve as a training practice for GP Registrars and medical students.

Job responsibilities

You will work autonomously, applying sound clinical judgment within practice protocols, guidelines (local and national), PGDs, and PSDs. Your duties include:

  1. Contraceptive checks, family planning, and sexual health advice, monitoring, and administration.
  2. Cervical cytology screening, once adequately trained.
  3. Performing investigations such as swabs, urinalysis, venepuncture, capillary blood testing, BP measurement, 24-hour BP monitoring, ECGs, and managing results with appropriate referrals.

  5. Providing care within the Local and Direct Enhanced Service contracts, including D-dimer assays, health checks, near-patient testing, prostate and PSA testing, alcohol monitoring, post-operative care, minor surgery, and injury services.
  6. Managing INR/Warfarin initiation and monitoring, including warfarin dosing and ensuring safe patient management with referrals as needed.
  7. Assessing and treating wounds with appropriate dressings, monitoring progress, and acting accordingly.
  8. Monitoring and managing chronic diseases such as Diabetes, CHD, Stroke, Hypertension, Mental Health, Learning Disabilities, PVD, CKD, and Rheumatoid Disease, with appropriate action or referrals for abnormal findings.
  9. Developing skills in diagnosing and managing respiratory conditions like asthma, COPD, and interstitial lung disease, with a focus on innovation and admission avoidance.
  10. Providing urgent care for breathing difficulties and chest pain, ensuring timely assistance.
