Job summary

Hollyns Health and Wellbeing is recruiting a practice nurse on a 12-month fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave at its GP surgery. The role centres on integrated nursing care, chronic disease clinics for diabetes, asthma and COPD, cervical screening and immunisations.

The post is full time with part time considered. GP practice experience is essential, and the post needs an active NMC registration.

Qualifications

• Post-basic primary care nursing qualification, including chronic disease management of diabetes
• Active NMC registration as a first level nurse
• Experience in cervical cytology and immunisations would be advantageous
• Knowledge of safeguarding, risk assessment and clinical governance in primary care

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver integrated nursing care for the practice population, contributing to QOF and CQC standards
• Offer chronic disease management in line with local and national policy
• Undertake cervical cytology and opportunistic screening in line with guidelines
• Administer injections, immunisations and vaccines under prescription or Patient Group Direction
• Perform venepuncture, electrocardiography, ear examination and irrigation
• Promote health and wellbeing and advise patients on lifestyle change
• Apply infection control when handling specimens, waste and body fluid spills
• Assist with clinical emergencies
• Cover sickness and annual leave and assist in extended surgeries
• Carry out home visits when required
