Locum Ready is seeking a Locum Practice Nurse to work for a GP practice in Melton Mowbray. This role focuses on chronic disease reviews, wound care, and routine nursing clinics in a structured primary care environment.

You will contribute to high-quality patient care through immunisations (if trained), NHS Health Checks and lifestyle assessments, recalls management, and clear clinical documentation. Regular or ad-hoc sessions and long-term bookings are available.

Qualifications

• NMC-registered nurse with experience in primary care.
• Up-to-date immunisation training desirable.
• Confident in chronic disease management and treatment room-work.
• Good patient communication and clinical reasoning.

Responsibilities

• Conduct chronic disease reviews for asthma, COPD, diabetes or hypertension.
• Perform wound care, dressings and treatment room duties.
• Carry out immunisations (if trained) and smear tests.
• Complete NHS Health Checks and lifestyle assessments.
• Managing results, recalls and routine follow-up tasks.

This role is ideal for a Practice Nurse with strong assessment skills who can confidently deliver chronic disease reviews, treatment room procedures and routine nursing clinics in a structured primary care environment.

You will contribute to high-quality patient care through a balance of clinical reviews, preventative health work and treatment room activity. The practice offers well-organised workflows, supportive nursing leadership and a clear structure for daily clinic delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Conducting chronic disease reviews for patients with asthma, COPD, diabetes or hypertension
• Performing wound care, dressings and treatment room duties
• Carrying out adult and children's immunisations (if trained)
• Undertaking smear tests (cytology-trained nurses)
• Completing NHS Health Checks and lifestyle assessments
• Managing results, recalls and routine follow-up tasks
• Documenting clearly in the clinical system

Requirements

• NMC-registered Nurse with experience in primary care
• Up-to-date immunisation and cytology training desirable
• Confident in chronic disease management and treatment room-work
• Good patient communication and clinical reasoning
• Familiarity with EMIS, SystmOne or Vision
• Enhanced DBS

Working Pattern

• Regular or ad-hoc sessions
• Morning and afternoon availability
• Long-term ongoing bookings offered
