Job description

We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and experienced Practice Nurse to join our friendly team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing high-quality patient care, performing cervical smears, assisting with chronic illness management, and ensuring the smooth operation of our practice. This position requires a strong understanding of anatomy and a commitment to delivering exceptional patient care.

Main duties of the job

1. Conduct patient assessments and record medical histories accurately.
2. Administer vaccinations and medications as prescribed by physicians.
3. Monitor patients' vital signs and report any significant changes to the healthcare team.
4. Perform cervical cytology (smears).
5. Assist in the management of chronic diseases and provide health education and disease prevention advice to patients.
6. Maintain accurate patient records in compliance with confidentiality regulations.
7. Collaborate with doctors and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
8. Participate in health promotion activities within the community.

Experience and Qualifications

• A recognised nursing qualification and current registration with the relevant nursing body (NMC registration) are essential.
• Previous experience in a clinical setting, particularly in primary care or general practice, is required.
• Strong knowledge of anatomy and physiology is necessary for effective patient care.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
• A compassionate approach to patient care and the ability to work well under pressure are vital.
• Qualifications in cervical screening and chronic disease management are preferred.

Additional Information

This post is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check in accordance with the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975.

Salary ranges from £18 to £25 per hour, dependent on experience.

Contract and Working Pattern

This is a permanent position, with flexible options for full-time, part-time, job share, or compressed hours to cover 5 days a week.
