Practice Manager Role at Chartered Accountancy Firm

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Qualified Practice Manager to join a well-established, growing, and ambitious Chartered Accountancy Practice based in Central London.

There is a clear pathway to Director / Partner within 2-3 years.

The firm has been established for over 30 years, providing comprehensive accounting services to businesses and individuals, with a strong commitment to excellence and client satisfaction. They offer a dynamic and collaborative work environment where professionals can thrive and grow in their careers.

The Role and Responsibilities
  • Report to the Operations Director and manage a portfolio of clients, planning the production of accounts, tax, and bookkeeping, leading a team of staff.
  • Oversee the preparation and review of accounts and tax returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant legislation and regulations.
  • Manage and perform audits across various industries, focusing on consolidations and group accounting structures.
  • Conduct in-depth research on tax issues, staying updated on changes in tax laws, regulations, and rulings to provide current guidance to clients and stakeholders.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to junior staff, fostering their professional development and ensuring high-quality service.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients.
  • Assist with tax enquiries, liaising with tax authorities and supporting clients as needed.
  • Develop and implement internal processes to streamline tax operations and improve efficiency.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and best practices, seeking continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Support business growth through activities such as client presentations, networking, and proposals.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; professional certification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CTA) preferred.
  • Qualified in public practice with extensive experience in tax and accounting services within a professional firm setting.
  • Possession of an audit license is advantageous.
  • Thorough knowledge of UK tax laws, regulations, and compliance.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to interpret complex tax legislation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective interaction with clients and colleagues.
  • Proven leadership skills, including mentoring junior staff.
  • Proficiency in tax software and MS Office; experience with accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks), CaseWare, and TaxCalc is beneficial.
  • Ability to work across multiple systems, demonstrating adaptability.
  • Experience with financial statement preparation and familiarity with reporting standards.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to professional standards, ethics, and confidentiality.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities.
What’s on Offer
