Practice Manager Role at Chartered Accountancy Firm
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Qualified Practice Manager to join a well-established, growing, and ambitious Chartered Accountancy Practice based in Central London.
There is a clear pathway to Director / Partner within 2-3 years.
The firm has been established for over 30 years, providing comprehensive accounting services to businesses and individuals, with a strong commitment to excellence and client satisfaction. The Role and Responsibilities
- Report to the Operations Director and manage a portfolio of clients, planning the production of accounts, tax, and bookkeeping, leading a team of staff.
- Oversee the preparation and review of accounts and tax returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant legislation and regulations.
- Manage and perform audits across various industries, focusing on consolidations and group accounting structures.
- Conduct in-depth research on tax issues, staying updated on changes in tax laws, regulations, and rulings to provide current guidance to clients and stakeholders.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to junior staff, fostering their professional development and ensuring high-quality service.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients.
- Assist with tax enquiries, liaising with tax authorities and supporting clients as needed.
- Develop and implement internal processes to streamline tax operations and improve efficiency.
- Stay informed about industry trends and best practices, seeking continuous improvement and innovation.
- Support business growth through activities such as client presentations, networking, and proposals.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; professional certification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CTA) preferred.
- Qualified in public practice with extensive experience in tax and accounting services within a professional firm setting.
- Possession of an audit license is advantageous.
- Thorough knowledge of UK tax laws, regulations, and compliance.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to interpret complex tax legislation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective interaction with clients and colleagues.
- Proven leadership skills, including mentoring junior staff.
- Proficiency in tax software and MS Office; experience with accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks), CaseWare, and TaxCalc is beneficial.
- Ability to work across multiple systems, demonstrating adaptability.
- Experience with financial statement preparation and familiarity with reporting standards.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to professional standards, ethics, and confidentiality.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities.
What’s on Offer
- Benefits: 5 days in-office initially (Hybrid working after induction), 23 days + Bank Holidays, Health Insurance, clear progression pathway to Director/Partner in 2-3 years.
- Contract: Full-time, Permanent
- Hours: Monday-Friday, 9am-5:30pm
