An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Emergency Department for a Practice Educator, working alongside the Practice Development Nurse.
The roles will be supporting adult and paediatric nurses working in the Emergency Department.
Applications for both full and part time positions, may be considered with ability to undertake hours either as management time or clinically to support the Emergency Department please discuss at interview.
The ED at Luton is a busy fast paced environment seeing a wide range of patient groups presenting with a variety of presentations from acute trauma to medical and surgical emergencies.
Supporting our nurses in practice bridging their knowledge and skills gap to help them reach their clinical potential while supporting them pastorally will improve staff retention, patient care and also give you an immense sense of job satisfaction.
Main duties of the job
To develop and deliver clinical skills and vocational training programmes for multi-professional audiences in support of identified training needs to support the delivery of learning within the Emergency Department (ED) in conjunction with the Emergency Department Practice Development Nurse (PDN).
To work alongside ED nursing staff in clinical areas, offering 1:1 clinical teaching with guidance and supervision.
To actively promote patient safety and, through the facilitation of training programmes, departmental teaching or coaching ensure that learning reflects improvements to the patient experience. To manage the process of assessment of clinical skills, ensuring that competency data is collected, maintained and reported on a quarterly basis to the divisional Matron via the Emergency Department PDN.
The expectation is that this role will be based in a clinical area.

The post holder must be able to actively demonstrate and proactively deliver effective and personal care, which is safe for the patients, in a calm and compassionate manner to every patient, every time. This should be at the core of all planning that actively involves the patient and where appropriate, their relatives /carers. With the ability to escalate areas of inter-professional and multiagency care concerns to the ward manager, Matron or Deputy/Head Nurse in a timely manner.
