Job overview
Join our well-established Practice Development Nurse (PDN) team on the Neonatal Unit at the Evelina London Children's Hospital, part of Guy's and St Thomas's NHS Foundation Trust. We are a tertiary referral centre with 20 NICU, 12 HDU, and 14 special care cots, providing care for babies with surgical, cardiac, neurological, renal, and metabolic disorders, as well as premature infants.
The PDN team is responsible for the education and teaching of pre- and post-registration student nurses, organizing clinical placements and study days for students and staff.
Newly qualified Band 5 nurses undergo a tailored developmental program supported by the PDN team, which has improved retention rates. The role also involves participating in recruitment, teaching resuscitation, implementing new medical equipment, and continuous educational updates.
You are expected to maintain clinical skills by working rostered shifts on the neonatal unit to provide up-to-date evidence-based care.

Main duties of the job
Develop and coordinate educational initiatives, lead in-service development, provide leadership, establish research-based clinical practices, and monitor professional standards, reporting performance and implementing remedial actions as needed.
