Job summary

Aneurin Bevan University Health Board (ABUHB) invites applications for an educational role to support Newly Registered Nurses. The post holder will design and deliver staff education, preceptorship and post-registration initiatives across ABUHB to facilitate safe and patient-centred care.

The position focuses on clinical, educational and pastoral support for newly registered nurses, particularly in Medicine and Surgery, with collaboration across divisional educators and stakeholders to promote

Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop and deliver educational initiatives that support newly registered practitioners and promote excellence in nursing practice.
  • Support Newly Registered Nurses through the Preceptorship Programme, guiding preceptors, educators and clinical teams to improve the experience.
  • Provide direct clinical, educational and pastoral support to Newly Registered Nurses to develop knowledge, skills and confidence for safe patient care.
  • Contribute educational expertise and clinical skills training across the Health Board, including Venous Access and IV administration.

Job Overview

This is an exciting opportunity to provide educational, clinical and pastoral support to Newly Registered Nurses.

The post holder will work 37.5 hours per week, supporting excellence in patient care through the development and delivery of staff education, preceptorship programmes and post-registration educational initiatives across Aneurin Bevan University Health Board.

Working with key stakeholders, the post holder will support the successful transition of Newly Registered Nurses into the organisation through structured induction, preceptorship and competency programmes. They will assess learning and development needs, supporting practitioners to develop the confidence, competence and professional behaviours required for safe practice.

The post holder will provide direct clinical, educational and pastoral support to Newly Registered Nurses, primarily within Medicine and Surgery. Through practice-based learning, competency assessment, preceptorship support and professional development, they will facilitate the transition into professional practice and support the delivery of safe, effective and quality patient care.

Working alongside divisional educators and key stakeholders, the post holder will contribute to preceptorship programmes and transition initiatives, promoting professional development, retention and patient safety.

Main duties of the job

Work in partnership with the Senior Nurse for Education and divisional Practice Educators to plan, develop and deliver educational initiatives that support newly registered practitioners and promote excellence in nursing practice.

Support Newly Registered Nurses through the Health Board's Preceptorship Programme, working alongside practitioners within clinical environments to facilitate transition into practice, competency development and professional growth. Provide support, guidance and best practice advice to preceptors, educators, ward managers and clinical teams, identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing appropriate interventions to enhance the preceptorship experience.

Provide direct clinical, educational and pastoral support to Newly Registered Nurses, supporting the development of knowledge, skills and confidence required to deliver safe, effective and high-quality patient care.

Support corporate nursing and professional initiatives, contributing educational expertise, professional knowledge and clinical skills training across the Health Board, including programmes such as Venous Access and Intravenous Administration.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
