Plus One Personnel Ltd is recruiting an experienced Audit & Accounts Manager to join a growing Corporate Services team at a well‑established UK accountancy practice in Banbury. You will manage a portfolio of corporate clients, delivering audit, accounts preparation and corporation tax with high quality and efficiency.

You will lead audit assignments, review work by junior staff, and build strong client relationships while working closely with Partners to identify value‑added advisory

Qualifications

  • ACA/ACCA qualification or equivalent professional experience; FCA/FCCA status advantageous.
  • Post-qualification audit practice experience with strong audit, accounts prep and corporate tax knowledge.
  • Experience in managing and developing staff within an accountancy practice to build high-performing teams.
  • Strong audit leadership, able to review and finalise audit and accounts files to a high standard.
  • Excellent communication, active listening and problem-solving skills with strong organisational and client management abilities.
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office; experience with charities and academies advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of corporate clients, delivering a responsive, cost-effective and high-quality accounting and audit service.
  • Build strong client relationships, acting as a key point of contact for day-to-day queries and liaising with third parties such as HMRC.
  • Lead audit assignments and review and finalise audit files, statutory accounts and corporation tax work prepared by junior team members.
  • Plan, delegate and supervise assignments effectively, ensuring timely completion and compliance with quality standards.
  • Coach and develop team members through delegation, feedback, appraisals and on-the-job training.
  • Monitor client and statutory deadlines including Companies House filings and group reporting requirements.
  • Manage work in progress (WIP) with Partners and support timely billing.
  • Identify business development opportunities and support Partners with advisory and audit-related projects.

Job description

A well-established UK accountancy and business advisory practice providing audit, accounting, tax and advisory services to a diverse client base. This is an exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Audit & Accounts Manager to join a growing Corporate Services team within a respected accountancy practice. You will manage a varied portfolio of corporate clients, ensuring the timely and high-quality delivery of audit, accounts preparation, corporation tax and outsourcing services. Alongside managing day-to-day client relationships, you will review work, lead audit assignments and support the development of junior colleagues. You will also work closely with Partners to identify business opportunities, deliver value-added advisory assignments and contribute to the continued development and growth of the practice.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Manage a portfolio of corporate clients, delivering a responsive, cost-effective and high-quality accounting and audit service.
  • Build strong client relationships, becoming a key point of contact for day-to-day queries and liaising with third parties including HMRC.
  • Lead audit assignments and review and finalise audit files, statutory accounts and corporation tax work prepared by junior team members.
  • Plan, delegate and supervise assignments effectively, ensuring work is completed efficiently and in accordance with quality and compliance standards.
  • Manage, coach and develop team members through effective delegation, feedback, appraisals and on-the-job training.
  • Monitor client and statutory deadlines, including Companies House filings, group reporting requirements, P11Ds and tax returns.
  • Work closely with Partners to manage work in progress (WIP), progress assignments through to completion and support timely billing.
  • Identify business development opportunities and assist Partners with value-added projects including business planning, advisory work and audit-related assignments.
Education & Skills Required
  • ACA or ACCA qualified, or able to demonstrate equivalent relevant professional experience; FCA or FCCA status would be advantageous.
  • Previous post-qualification experience within an audit practice environment, with strong knowledge of audit, accounts preparation and corporate taxation.
  • Previous experience of managing and developing staff within an accountancy practice, with the ability to build and motivate high-performing teams.
  • Strong audit leadership skills, including the ability to efficiently review and complete audit and accounts files to a high professional standard.
  • Excellent communication, active listening and problem-solving skills, combined with strong organisation, commercial awareness and client relationship management abilities.
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office; experience working with charities and academies would be advantageous.
