Keates & Co Accountants, a small established practice near Fleet, is seeking a hands-on Practice Accountant to deliver statutory accounts, personal and corporation tax, and client support. You will work alongside the Managing Director, take ownership of your deadlines, and supervise junior team members in a supportive, autonomous environment.

The role suits ACA/ACCA qualified accountants or those qualified by experience, with UK practice experience and a proactive, client-focused approach.

Qualifications

• ACA or ACCA qualification or equivalent experience in UK accountancy practice.
• Experience preparing statutory accounts for small/owner-managed businesses.

• Strong client relationship and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review statutory accounts for a portfolio of small and owner-managed businesses.
• Manage client deadlines and ensure work is completed accurately and on time.
• Assist with personal and corporation tax compliance and basic advisory work.
• Review bookkeeping and management information prepared by team members.
• Act as a key point of contact for client queries and ongoing support.
• Support, guide and train members of the team.
• Work closely with the Managing Director on client delivery and workflow.
• Assist with ad hoc accounts, tax and client advisory assignments.
• Help maintain and improve internal processes and client service delivery.
• Build strong, long-term relationships with clients through high-quality service.

You will work as part of a close-knit team where you can take genuine ownership of your work, build strong relationships with clients and work directly with the Managing Director.

About the role

This is a broad, hands-on Practice Accountant role covering statutory accounts, personal and corporation tax, client support and the review of work completed by team members.

You will manage your own responsibilities and client deadlines while working closely with the Managing Director on client delivery and workflow.

The role would suit an ACA or ACCA-qualified accountant, or someone qualified by experience, who has worked within a UK accountancy practice and enjoys the variety and autonomy that comes with working in a smaller firm.

Essential requirements

To be considered for this role, you will need:

• ACA or ACCA qualification, or equivalent experience as a qualified-by-experience accountant

• Previous experience working within a UK accountancy practice

• Strong statutory accounts preparation experience

• Working knowledge of personal and corporation tax

• Experience reviewing work and supporting team members

• Confidence working independently within a small team

• Strong communication and client relationship skills

• An organised, proactive and reliable approach

• Full right to work in the UK
