Job summary

Element Building Management Ltd. is seeking a hands-on PPM & Maintenance Operative to keep our commercial sites in top condition across the South West.

You will perform regular maintenance tasks, undertake landscaping, and handle basic plumbing and electrical repairs with a practical, can-do attitude. The role requires a valid UK driving licence, the ability to work independently or as part of a team, and readiness to overtime or stay overnight when needed.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in carpentry, landscaping, and property maintenance.
• Competent with handyman tasks including basic plumbing and electrical repairs.
• Hands-on, practical problem solving and independent work ethic.
• Able to work in a team and on-site with clients.

Responsibilities

• Carry out PPM duties and checks on alarms, emergency lighting, water services and general building condition.
• Landscape and grounds maintenance across sites.
• Perform basic plumbing and electrical tasks as handyman.
• Represent the company professionally to clients on-site.
• Overtime and occasional overnight stays may be required.

Job description

As a PPM & Maintenance Operative, you will be joining our existing work force and your day-to-day work will be highly varied. You will be involved in regular PPM duties, decorating, external landscaping, lawn & hedge care and general property maintenance across our range of mostly commercial clients.

Key Responsibilities

• PPM duties, regular checks on fire alarms, emergency lighting, water services and general building condition.
• Landscaping: Fencing, basic paving, lawn care and outdoor ground maintenance.
• Basic Plumbing & Electrical: Handyman-level tasks including fixing minor leaks, replacing taps, changing light fittings, switches, and sockets.
• General Maintenance: Tiling repairs, clearing gutters, building fabric repairs, and resolving reactive maintenance issues.
• Client Relations: Representing the company professionally when interacting with clients on-site.

What We Are Looking For

• Proven experience in carpentry, landscaping, and general property maintenance.
• Competency in basic handyman tasks, including simple domestic plumbing and electrical repairs.
• A strong, practical, hands-on approach to problem-solving.
• Ability to work independently using your own initiative, as well as part of a team.
• Ability to work overtime when required and the occasional overnight stay
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Essential: A valid, clean Full UK Driving Licence.
