Job summary

Randstad CPE is seeking an experienced Proving Test Technician for a 12-month contract onsite in Peterborough, UK. You will install, test, and diagnose powertrains across IC, electric, and EV platforms.

The role requires 4+ years in a workshop/testing environment, strong mechanical/electrical/hydraulic skills, and a relevant apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3. Onsite work with safety and 5S disciplines is essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience in a workshop, testing, or maintenance environment with engines or heavy machinery.
• Strong diagnostic and testing skills across mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
• Ability to work across IC, electric, or EV platforms.
• Apprenticeship or higher education qualification such as NVQ Level 3 is desirable.
• Proficiency with MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Install prototype powertrains into off-highway machinery.
• Instrument powertrains with sensors and instrumentation.
• Diagnose and repair faults on powertrains and full machines.
• Read engineering drawings to manufacture parts using manual machining, welding, and fabrication tools.
• Operate in the test facility with strict health and safety procedures.
