With $6.9 billion in sales, a strong customer base and global reach spanning nearly 70 countries, we are uniquely positioned to deliver greater value to our customers and create new opportunities for our people.

We are seeking Power System Lead to join our team in London, United Kingdom!

As EMEA Power System Lead, you will design electrical power distribution solutions for the main electrical backbone from grid connection at medium voltage level down to servers. Working with strategic customers, consultants, engineering teams, and sales, you will influence the design of tailored solutions that drive Vertiv’s market share and win rate within EMEA’s most critical accounts.

  1. This strategic technical leadership role combines deep electrical engineering expertise with customer‑facing influence. You will serve as the technical authority for complete power train solutions, shaping specifications and driving innovation in next‑generation data center electrical infrastructure.
  2. Ideal candidates have extensive experience designing large‑scale electrical power distribution in Data Centers, Oil & Gas, Chemical, Manufacturing, or Utilities industries.
What kind of work will you be doing?

Strategic Customer Engagement & Solution Influence:

  • Lead technical engagement and solution mapping with EMEA’s most strategic Colo and Hyperscale customers and consultants, influencing design from initial concept through detailed specifications
  • Work with consultants to collaboratively develop solutions and drive RFQ specifications that favor Vertiv’s capabilities
  • Serve as technical authority for power train solutions including medium/low voltage switchgear, UPS, STS/PDU, RPP/Busway, and high‑density applications
  • Organize technical events, workshops, and training sessions to demonstrate Vertiv’s capabilities and establish thought leadership
  • Build relationships with key industry consultants, design firms, and hyperscale/colo operators to expand Vertiv’s early‑stage design influence
Electrical System Design & Engineering
  • Design critical electrical backbones for large‑scale data center power distribution networks (50-500MW+), from short design briefs to detailed specifications
  • Design comprehensive power solutions integrating utility feeds, switchgear, busbar systems, UPS, prefabricated solutions, and protection/automation systems
  • Lead power system modeling and simulation
  • Develop innovative, higher‑value competitive applications where standard solutions don’t meet requirements
  • Validate designs with engineering and manufacturing teams for production alignment
Cross‑Functional Collaboration & Technical Leadership
  • Provide technical expertise for strategic projects in collaboration with Key Account Directors, Application Engineers, and sales teams
  • Train and support AEs and PMs to apply system‑level thinking in regional sales efforts
  • Deliver compelling technical presentations to customers and stakeholders at all levels, including C‑suite
  • Collaborate on RFCs/RFOs, product transitions, and initiatives with Global Product and BU teams
  • Represent regional insights in sales governance and roadmap alignment forums
Market Intelligence & Innovation
  • Monitor competitor offerings (ABB, Eaton, Schneider, Siemens, Legrand) and emerging technologies
  • Drive innovation in next‑generation solutions: MV UPS systems, 800V DC architectures, solid‑state switchgear, BESS integration, grid‑interactive solutions, liquid cooling integration, Champion sustainability, energy efficiency, and decarbonization solutions
What will make you successful?
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 10-15 years of experience in electrical power distribution systems design, with significant focus on data centers or mission‑critical infrastructure
  • Direct data center design and engineering experience highly preferred
  • Proven track record in application engineering of large‑scale (50MW+) electrical power systems
  • Experience in utilities, industrial power, oil & gas, or similar industries with large power networks
  • Expert knowledge: Medium voltage (up to 36kV) and low voltage distribution, switchgear, busbar systems, transformers, UPS, STS/PDU, RPP, protection/automation systems, power quality, harmonics, grounding, Tier III/IV reliability standards
  • Power system analysis tools: CAD (AutoCAD, Revit), BIM methodology, network calculation (ETAP, SKM, EasyPower, CYME), simulation (PSCAD, PSS/E, PowerWorld), Digital Twin platforms (Cadence Reality DC, EkkoSIM), CFD tools (6SigmaDCX)
  • Standards expertise: IEC, IEEE, NFPA, NEC, UL, regional electrical codes
  • Knowledge of AI/HPC infrastructure and high‑density power delivery challenges is preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills: engaging audiences from technical engineers to C‑suite executives
  • Proven ability to influence customer and consultant design decisions through technical authority
  • Strong commercial acumen with understanding of project economics and competitive positioning
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously
