Job summary

Us3 Ltd seeks an experienced Power System Network Model Engineer to support the development and maintenance of transmission network models within an Energy Management System (EMS) environment. You will work across network topology, electrical asset modelling, SCADA telemetry and transmission system applications to ensure accurate real-time representation for control room operations.

Ideal candidates will have proven experience in electricity transmission network modelling, knowledge of CIM

Qualifications

• Experience modelling electricity transmission networks within an EMS.
• Knowledge of substations, busbars, circuit breakers, transformers, transmission lines and generators.
• Understanding network topology and asset relationships.
• Experience mapping SCADA telemetry and live monitoring data.
• Familiarity with GE PowerOn or GE XA/21 or similar EMS.
• Knowledge of state estimation, power flow and contingency analysis.
• Experience in transmission operators or grid control environments.
• SC clearance or eligibility to obtain SC clearance.
• Knowledge of CIM standards IEC 61970/61968.
• Experience with SQL, XML and/or Python.
• Experience with network model migration and system upgrades.

Job description

We are looking for an experienced Power System Network Model Engineer to support the development and maintenance of electricity transmission network models within an Energy Management System (EMS) environment.

You will work across network topology, electrical asset modelling, SCADA telemetry and transmission system applications, supporting accurate real-time representation of the network for control room and operational purposes.

• Proven experience in electricity transmission network modelling within an EMS.
• Strong knowledge of modelling substations, busbars, circuit breakers, transformers, transmission lines and generators.
• Understanding of network topology, connectivity and relationships between electrical assets.
• Experience mapping SCADA telemetry and live monitoring data to network equipment.
• Experience with GE PowerOn, GE XA/21, or a comparable transmission EMS platform.
• Understanding of state estimation, power flow and contingency analysis.
• Previous experience within transmission operators, electricity utilities or grid control centres.
• SC clearance or eligibility to obtain SC clearance.
• Knowledge of CIM standards, particularly IEC 61970 and IEC 61968.
• Experience with SQL, XML and/or Python.
• Experience with network model migration, commissioning and system upgrades.
