Job summary

TipTopJob in Dudley is seeking a Power Press Setter / Operator to set and operate power presses up to 400T, install tooling, and ensure components meet engineering drawings. You will work in the Press Shop under ISO 9001 standards, with a strong emphasis on safety and quality control.

The role requires reading engineering drawings, using standard measurement tools, troubleshooting, and performing preventative maintenance.

Qualifications

• Power press setting experience required.
• Valid RoSPA Power Press Setters Certificate essential.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Competent with standard workshop and quality measuring tools.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality systems and standards.

Responsibilities

• Set and operate power presses up to 400T.
• Set press tooling including forming, piercing, cropping and progression tooling.
• Set pedestal drills (training provided).
• Troubleshoot issues related to press settings, tooling or quality.
• Carry out routine quality checks using Verniers, callipers, plug gauges and height gauges.
• Grinding of dies and punches (preferred).
• Perform basic preventative maintenance and inspect press guards.
• Record production output and quality data on provided documents.
• Maintain housekeeping standards around machinery and work areas per ISO 9001.

Job description

Job Title: Power Press Setter / Operator

Department: Press Shop

Location: Dudley

Hours: Monday : Thursday 08.00: 16.15, Friday 08.00 : 15.30 OR Monday : Thursday 07.30 : 16.15, Friday07.30 : 12.30. (overtime maybe required)

Pay: Starting from A GBP 15, negotiable depending on experience

Job Purpose.

• To set, operate Power Presses up to 400T
• Set press tools including forming, piercing, cropping and progression/follow through tooling. Set De: Coilers.
• Set Pedestal drillers (training will be given)
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues relating to power press settings, tooling or production quality.
• Carry out routine quality checks to ensure components meet required tolerances and engineering drawings. (Using Verniers, callipers, plug gauges and height gauges)
• Grinding of dies and punches (Preferred but not essential)
• Preform basic preventative maintenance, including the signing off and inspection of press guards.
• Record production output and quality inspection data on provided documents.
• Maintain excellent housekeeping standards around machinery, benches, and work areas in line with ISO 9001 practices.
• Follow all company Health and Safety and PPE polices without exception.
• Work flexible hours and overtime as required with a positive, team:first attitude.

Skills.

• Proven experience in setting and operating power presses.
• Hold a valid Power Press Setters Certificate (RoSpa) Essential.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Competent in using standard workshop and quality measuring tools.
• Familiarity with quality systems and standards such as ISO 9001
