Job summary

The University of Nottingham invites applications for a Research Associate / Fellow in Power Electronics (Fixed Term) at Jubilee Campus. The role is hands-on, designing novel power converter topologies, writing drive control code in C, building and commissioning hardware, and running experiments on PEMC's state‑of‑the‑art facilities.

Qualifications

  • Proven design skills applied to power electronics converters and drive systems from concept through to hardware.
  • Experience writing power electronics control code in C or equivalent.
  • Solid understanding of topology selection, gate drive design and EMC.
  • Practical lab skills in converter characterization, instrumentation and data acquisition.
  • Experience with reliability assessment for power semiconductor devices.

Responsibilities

  • Design novel power converter topologies and validate drive control code.
  • Build and commissioning hardware and run experiments on PEMC facilities.
  • Collaborate with researchers and industrial partners across the project lifecycle.
  • Capture requirements, perform simulations, and drive system integration, testing and reporting.
