KO2 seeks a Power Electronics Engineer in Newcastle upon Tyne to join a fast-growing team developing high-voltage server systems for quantum analytics. You will design converters at 10 kW+ using SiC/GaN devices and contribute to SST architectures, simulation, prototyping, and certification support.

The role focuses on wide-bandgap technology, embedded control, EMC and thermal design, with a chance to influence hardware in a growing company.

Formación

• Hands-on design with medium- or high-voltage SiC devices.
• Experience designing with GaN devices.
• Experience with SST or related high-frequency isolated converters.
• Strong background in power electronics design and system simulation.
• Experience with analogue and digital circuit development.
• Understanding of switching devices, gate drive, thermal design and magnetics.
• Understanding embedded control and EMC in high-power systems.

Responsabilidades

• Design high-power converters using MV/HV SiC and GaN devices.
• Develop SST architectures or lead SST design.
• Model and simulate converter designs in PLECS; use CAD tools like CADSTAR.
• Carry out functional, thermal and electrical testing of prototypes.
• Run EMC and power compliance testing and fix issues.
• Write technical documentation and safety files for approvals.
