The University of Sheffield is seeking a Power Electronics Engineer to join a Knowledge Transfer Partnership with Round Bank Engineering Ltd/Zikodrive. Based on site in Sheffield, you will work at the interface between academia and industry to develop high-performance power electronics for advanced motor drives.

You will model, design, test and qualify GaN-based converters, collaborate with academics and engineers, and contribute to commercialisation of new capabilities.

Competenze

• A postgraduate degree or equivalent industrial experience in Electrical/Electronic Engineering; a PhD is desirable.
• Strong background in electrical engineering, circuit design for power and control electronics.
• Experience with motor drives and related control software; familiarity with PCB design tools.

Mansioni

• Lead design, manufacturing and testing of GaN-based power converters for high-speed motors.
• Use software/hardware tools to simulate, design and test power electronics converters.
• Collaborate with academics and industry to translate specifications into high performance designs.
• Develop control algorithms, modulation strategies and testing procedures.
• Support qualification of designs using internal and external resources.
• Publish technical reports and contribute to dissemination and commercialisation activities.
