Job summary

ConSol Partners is seeking a Data Engineer (Power BI Specialist) on a contract basis, with a focus on the semantic and reporting layer. Hybrid roles available in Leeds or London, and active SC clearance is mandatory.

You will work to ensure Power BI datasets, semantic models and reports are well-structured, scalable, and aligned to trusted upstream data sources, collaborating with Data Engineers, BAs and stakeholders to deliver high-quality reporting solutions.

Qualifications

• Hands-on Power BI expertise with semantic models and DAX.
• Strong data modelling and relational databases understanding.
• Experience with SQL-based data sources.
• Experience with enterprise-scale reporting environments.
• Effective stakeholder management and communication.
• Testing, validation and data reconciliation support.
• Knowledge of reporting governance and best practices.

Responsibilities

• Analyse and optimise Power BI datasets, semantic models and reports.
• Refactor reporting solutions around curated upstream data sources.
• Ensure business logic resides in the data platform, not in reports.
• Validate report functionality, refresh processes and DAX measures.
• Perform regression testing, data validation and reconciliation.
• Collaborate with BAs and Data Engineers to interpret requirements.
• Promote Power BI governance standards and design best practices.
• Deliver reliable, scalable, high-performing reporting solutions.
