Job summary

Spinwell Global Limited is seeking a Power BI Consultant for a public sector role based in the UK. Hybrid working with 1-2 days on site at Kidlington and Winchester. The contract runs until 02/04/27 with a daily pay rate of 550. BPSS clearance is noted and attendance at both sites is required.

You will support performance analysts and developers, design BI semantic models, and deliver training while mentoring teams on best practices for data warehousing and BI solutions.

Qualifications

• Power BI dataset/report building and service administration.
• DAX and M query language proficiency.
• T-SQL and connecting to SQL data sources with query folding in Power BI.
• Data modelling and dataset design.
• Training experience in delivering informal sessions.
• Experience mentoring/consulting teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct technical support to performance analyst/developer SMEs for Power BI with a SQL Datawarehouse.
• Assist in requirements development for warehouse developers to improve data warehouse design.
• Design and deliver informal training to small groups.
• Build Power BI semantic models from detailed requirements to support short-term capacity needs.
• Translate business requirements into technical Power BI solutions.
• Collaborate with leadership to explore future model possibilities following best practices.

About the Role

Spinwell is recruiting for a Power BI Consultant an excellent opportunity within the public sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct technical support to our performance analyst/developer SMEs, working with them to help them improve their use of Power BI alongside a SQL Datawarehouse, and in particular Power BI semantic models[M(6] [O(7]
• Supporting the development of requirements for our warehouse developers to improve the design of the data warehouse, supporting efficient and effective data usage
• Designing and delivering informal training to small groups, enabling them to get started and improve their working practices
• Be hands on, building commissioned Power BI semantic models from detailed requirements to support the teams with short term capacity gaps
• Supporting teams to understand business requirements and turn these into technical solutions
• Working with leadership in the performance teams to help them explore what future models of working may look like in their areas, following industry best practice

Essential Skills and Experience

• Power BI: Building datasets, reports, administration of the Power BI Service
• DAX and M
• T-SQL, including connecting to SQL data sources from Power BI, and a good understanding of query folding
• Data Modelling & Dataset Design
• Training experience[M(8]
• Working in a mentoring/support/consultancy capacity
