Powder Coating Technician: Day Shift + Overtime

Job summary

JRL Group Ltd’s McMullen Facades division is hiring Powder Coating Operatives to join the Nottingham team. Working hours are 6:00am–4:00pm or 7:00am–5:00pm, Monday to Friday, with overtime at 1.3x.

You will prepare metal components, apply powder coatings using manual or automated equipment, and perform ongoing quality checks to meet thickness and adhesion standards. Previous spray experience and familiarity with GEMA powder coating systems are preferred.

Qualifications

• Prior experience in powder coating or spray painting.
• Familiarity with GEMA powder coating systems is preferred.
• Knowledge of automated coating lines is advantageous.
• Understanding of quality testing procedures (powder thickness, gloss levels).
• Ability to work to high-quality standards (e.g. Qualicoat or similar).

Responsibilities

• Prepare metal components (cleaning, masking, pre-treatment).
• Apply powder coatings using manual and/or automated equipment.
• Ensure coatings meet required quality standards (thickness, adhesion, finish).
• Carry out quality checks throughout the process.
• Monitor curing oven settings and cycles.
• Manage colour changeovers efficiently.
• Identify and resolve coating defects.
• Work to production targets and schedules.
• Maintain a clean and organised workspace (5S & H&S standards).
• Support continuous improvement initiatives.
