Job summary

De Lacy Executive is seeking a Poultry Assistant Manager for a large‑scale poultry operation in South Somerset. The role focuses on rearing pullets to lay, regular welfare checks, and maintaining strict biosecurity and hygiene standards.

The ideal candidate will have poultry sector experience, understand husbandry, and be flexible to evolving business needs. A UK driving licence and NVQ Level 2 or equivalent are preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience in poultry production required.
• Strong understanding of poultry husbandry.
• Ability to follow biosecurity and site hygiene protocols.
• Good communication and team-working skills.
• UK driving licence required.
• NVQ Level 2 or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

• Rear pullets through to point of lay.
• Carry out regular bird walking and welfare checks.
• Maintain high standards of biosecurity and site hygiene with emphasis on health and safety.
• Demonstrate attention to detail across all aspects of the role.
• Monitor bird health and identify issues promptly.
• Ensure adherence to company policies, industry standards, and assurance and legislative requirements.
• Monitor flock health, welfare and performance through stock observation and timely intervention.
• Carry out audits and maintain accurate records while analysing flock performance.
