Job summary

Annyalla Chicks in Wrexham is seeking a Hatchery Operative to join the hatchery management team and support day-to-day operations, ensuring welfare of day-old chicks and upholding high standards of quality, hygiene, animal welfare and health and safety.

The role involves assisting with daily production, chick take off and grading, maintaining biosecurity, adhering to codes of practice, and taking on duties as required while pursuing ongoing training and development.

Qualifications

  • Flexible and hard working.
  • Enthusiastic with a positive attitude to teamwork.
  • Ability to work shifts (start times can range between 3am to 5am).
  • Computer literate.
  • Previous experience working within a production environment would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a full understanding of poultry at Annyalla Chicks
  • Assist with daily production needs, in particular chick production
  • Undertake various tasks within the hatchery; chick take off and chick grading
  • General cleaning and tidiness of all areas inside and outside the hatchery to ensure our high standards of biosecurity are adhered to at all times
  • Adhere to all codes of practice and bird welfare
  • Adhere to health and safety standards at all times
  • Undertake any other duties within the hatchery operation as and when required
  • Be responsible for own training and development to keep up to date with industry standards
