Job summary

Whitehall Garden Centre Ltd is seeking a friendly Pottery Café Assistant in Chippenham. You will help customers choose and paint pottery, serve coffees and cakes, and operate the pottery kiln with full training provided.

The role involves welcoming families, handling till payments, and supporting events. Flexible weekend work and seasonal shifts are required in a busy, creative café environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in hospitality or retail is helpful, but full training is provided.
• Strong guest-focused approach and cheerful demeanor.
• Comfortable learning new skills and following procedures.

Responsibilities

• Welcome customers and create a warm, friendly atmosphere.
• Help customers choose and paint pottery with tips for best results.
• Explain the painting process from start to finish.
• Prepare and serve hot and cold drinks, including barista-style coffees.
• Serve light food and refreshments and handle payments at the till.
• Safely load/unload kiln and prepare finished pottery for collection.
• Keep the studio clean, stocked and well organised.
• Support parties, workshops and events as needed.

Location: Chippenham, WiltshireHours: Full-time & Part Time Temporary roles until 24th December 2026. Full time position includes every other weekend. Part time position is every weekend.

We're looking for a friendly, enthusiastic and reliable Pottery Café Assistant to join our busy Paint Your Own Pottery studio. Every day is different - from helping families create treasured keepsakes to serving freshly made coffees and cakes, operating our pottery kiln and making every customer feel welcome.

What You'll Be Doing

As a Pottery Café Assistant, you'll be involved in all aspects of running the studio, including:

• Welcoming customers and creating a warm, friendly atmosphere.
• Helping customers choose and paint pottery, offering tips and techniques to achieve the best results.
• Explaining the pottery painting process from start to finish.
• Preparing and serving quality hot and cold drinks, including barista-style coffees, full training provided.
• Serving light food, cakes and refreshments.
• Operating the till and processing payments.
• Safely loading and unloading the pottery kiln (full training provided).
• Preparing finished pottery for collection.
• Keeping the studio clean, organised and well stocked.
• Supporting birthday parties, workshops and special events.
