Job summary

The University of Oxford is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Scientist to join an internationally recognised programme investigating novel mechanisms of oxygen sensing and hypoxia biology. The successful candidate will contribute to a project examining cardiovascular responses to hypoxia mediated by an oxygen-sensing pathway in our lab, integrating molecular mechanisms with whole-animal physiology.

The role involves in vivo and ex vivo approaches, phenotyping of knockout models, and collaboration

Qualifications

• PhD/DPhil in cardiovascular science or closely related subject.
• Experience in management of recombinant/transgenic mouse colonies.
• Ability to manage own academic research and associated activities independently.

Responsibilities

• Manage own academic research and associated administrative activities.
• Test hypotheses and analyse scientific techniques and experimental protocols.
• Manage recombinant/transgenic in‑vivo lines.
• Analyse cardiovascular responses to hypoxia and/or stimuli in vivo and ex vivo.
• Advise group members on protocols and techniques.
• Represent the group at external meetings or seminars.
• Conduct detailed phenotyping of ADO knockout in vivo to define cardiovascular consequences of the oxygen-sensing pathway.
