Job summary

Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate (Computational Vaccine Discovery) in Liverpool. The role focuses on turning vaccine design complexity into a usable decision platform, with emphasis on T-cell antigen prioritisation and large-scale computational pipelines.

The successful candidate will collaborate with MalariaGEN, develop scalable workflows, and contribute to publications; hybrid work 3 days on site.

Qualifications

• PhD in a quantitative or life-science discipline or equivalent experience.
• Strong programming skills, preferably in Python, with software-engineering practices.
• Experience with large, complex biological datasets and ML methods.
• Experience building reproducible workflows and analytical pipelines, ideally on HPC or cloud.
• Knowledge of relational databases and modern analytics tools is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Build scalable, documented workflows for malaria peptide evaluation, MHC predictions, multi-omics integration and candidate-set optimisation.
• Integrate evidence with population coverage, parasite variation and expression to calibrate predictions.
• Develop scoring, filtering and optimisation approaches to enable experimental decision-making.
• Produce reusable pipelines, datasets, databases, and technical documentation for collaboration and publication.
