Salary: £35,608.00 – £46,049.00 per annum

Key Accountabilities
- Plan and lead high‑quality research projects, manage timelines and supervise teams
- Develop and execute the specified project using appropriate techniques and equipment
- Contribute ideas that enhance technical and methodological aspects of the work
- Publish multiple independent research findings in prominent peer‑reviewed journals over a substantial period of time
- Prepare and write scientific reviews for publication in reputable outlets
- Disseminate research findings through seminar and conference presentations nationally and internationally
- Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate research students and take responsibility for their training
- Interact intellectually with other academic members of the Institute and seek interdisciplinary collaboration
- Identify and undertake a programme of professional development, including further training in research methods and transferable skills
- Maintain the highest academic standards and work in accordance with university policies

- Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Substantial experience analysing and interpreting data
- Substantial experience delivering research projects
- Evidence of implementing and optimising laboratory methods
- Scientific publications relevant to bacterial infection
- Experience supervising and training staff/students
- Ability to work independently and as part of research teams
- Excellent scientific writing skills

- Excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills
- Capacity for original thought and willingness to work flexibly by mutual arrangement
- Clear commitment to a career in research and demonstrable drive to succeed at the highest level
Qualifications
- PhD in a relevant biosciences subject
- Master’s degree in a relevant biosciences subject
- Undergraduate degree in a relevant biosciences subject
