Job summary

Heriot-Watt University is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Computational Quantum Matter. The role is a full-time, 8-month fixed-term contract at Grade 7 with a salary of £38,448 to £48,337 per annum.

The duties include generating data for low-dimensional correlated quantum matter using SyTen and ALF, and collaborating across teams within the Division/School/University. The ideal candidate will hold a PhD or be close to completion, have extensive experience with the specified software

Qualifications

PhD in relevant discipline (or close to successful completion).
Extended experience with the SyTen and ALF software packages.
Experience with low-dimensional many-body quantum systems and superconducting correlations.
Experience mapping superconducting systems to periodic Kondo- and Anderson-lattices.

Responsibilities

Conduct and disseminate original research with the project team.
Collaborate with senior decision makers to enable the programme and measurement.
Support the work of the team as needed.
Contribute to outreach and impact engagement activities of the project.
Identify sources of funding and help prepare research proposals.
Demonstrate initiative to manage project deliverables and deadlines.
Develop networks and collaborations internally and externally to the Division/School/University.
Perform any other duties commensurate with the grade.
