Job summary

CRUK Scotland Institute in Glasgow invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Scientist to join the CONTROL-MITO team. You will lead mitochondrial biology studies in bioengineered human cell lines, testing chemical-genetic tools and driving phenotyping across collaborations with Edinburgh and Dundee groups.

The role offers a fixed-term up to 6 years, with relocation and visa cost support where needed, and opportunities to publish, present, and mentor junior researchers within a vibrant

Qualifications

• PhD in mitochondrial/cell biology or related field.
• Hands-on experience of mammalian cell culture.
• Ability to work independently and drive research progress.
• Open, rigorous and reproducible approach to science.
• Excellent communication and teamwork in multidisciplinary settings.

Responsibilities

• Measure mitochondrial bioenergetics and metabolism by respirometry and LC-MS.
• Investigate mitochondrial morphology, function and quality control using fluorescence microscopy and flow cytometry.
• Monitor mitochondrial genome maintenance and expression in bioengineered cells.
• Collaborate with CRUK Scotland Institute core facilities (Metabolomics, Advanced Imaging, Proteomics).
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to advance the Precision Mitochondria programme.
• Present at meetings, write up results for publication, and supervise junior researchers.
