Job summary

The CRUK Scotland Institute in Glasgow invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Scientist to join CONTROL-MITO, a Precision Mitochondria program. You will serve as the team’s mitochondrial biologist, testing chemical-genetic tools and leading phenotyping of bioengineered cells in a collaborative environment.

The role requires a PhD in mitochondrial or cell biology, hands-on mammalian cell culture, and the ability to drive research with an open, rigorous approach.

Qualifications

• PhD in mitochondrial biology or closely related field.
• Hands-on experience of mammalian cell culture.
• Proven ability to work independently, manage experimental workflows and drive progress.

Responsibilities

• Measure mitochondrial bioenergetics and metabolism by respirometry and LC-MS.
• Investigate mitochondrial morphology, function and quality control in bioengineered cells.
• Monitor mitochondrial genome maintenance and expression in engineered cells.
• Collaborate with core facilities (Metabolomics, Advanced Imaging, Proteomics).
• Lead mitochondrial phenotyping of bioengineered human cell lines and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
